Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of insurance do you take?

Most insurances are welcome (i.e. Medi-Cal, Health Plan of San Joaquin, Kaiser with Medi-Cal, CCS, Workers Comp, and Department of Rehabilitation). Medicare currently does not cover the cost of hearing aids.

How long will it take to get my hearing aids?

If you are going through insurance, we will first need to contact your insurance company to get authorization for your hearing aids.

After we receive authorization, we will call you to schedule your first appointment to take impressions of your ears. Approximately 3 weeks after that appointment, we’ll schedule you an appointment to come in and pick up your new hearing aids. We’ll teach you how to use and care for them at that time.

Do you fit children with hearing aids?

Yes, we love kids! First, you’ll need to get medical clearance from your child’s Ear Nose and Throat Specialist and their Audiologist. After your child’s hearing test has been completed (we cannot run hearing tests on children in our office), we can fit your child with hearing aids.

Do you conduct hearing tests?

Yes, but if you are going through your insurance (Health Plan, Medi-Cal, etc.) you need to visit your audiologist to get your hearing test done and then you can be referred to us for your hearing aids. If you are not going through your insurance, you can come straight to us for a hearing test and hearing aids.

What are some signs or symptoms that I might have if I have a hearing loss?

These are different for every individual, but below are some of the most common signs people with hearing loss notice:

  • Difficulty hearing over the phone.

  • Trouble following conversation when two or more people are talking at the same time.

  • You turn the TV volume high.

  • You have trouble hearing conversation in noisy places such as restaurants or parties.

  • You often have to ask people to repeat themselves.

  • You’ve worked in noisy environments.

  • You think people mumble when they talk.

  • You avoid social activities because you cannot hear well.

  • You can’t tell which direction a sound is coming from.

  • You misunderstand what others are saying and make inappropriate responses.

If any of these sound familiar, please give us a call!

I work in a noisy environment, visit noisy places, ride on loud transportation, etc. Can you make me custom earmolds even if I don’t have a hearing loss?

Yes, absolutely! These are simple appointments where we will take an impression of your ears and send them out to the manufacturer. We can also make specialized earmolds for hunters, musicians, law enforcement, and more.
